![]() It can be correct for a player to continue drawing with far less of a hand or a draw than in NLHE. (They could have offered higher, of course, but this is for a "typical" NLHE example) But in LHE, the bettor could only offer 13% odds, 17% odds, and 12% odds on the flop, turn, and river. In each of the betting rounds in my example, the bettor offered 25% pot odds on every street. Second, that pot odds tended to be much lower in LHE. But about 35% of the money went in during preflop during Limit Holdem! Only 11% of the money got in on the preflop betting street in NLHE. So, what can we say about these two games?įirst, that Limit Holdem requires far more of an initial investment in your hand preflop compared to the potential reward at the river. Someone just won a profit of $17 off of an initial risk of $4. Value bet on the river of $4, it's called. The turn is a big bet street, so the bet of $4 is called. (big blind must have been dealt 72o or something.)īet on the flop of $2. That is why (with position) it can be profitable to play hands that don't win very often but when they do, they win big. Someone in that pot just won a profit of $81 when they initially risked $8. Now there's $79.īet on the river for value, $40, called. In NLHE, player in mid position raises to $8. (Both of these games have a $1 small blind and $2 big blind) Limit Holdem, on the other hand, doesn't allow you to get in cheaply and extract if you hit a monster. When you do make those monster hands like flushes and straights, they're often well hidden enough to get paid off by bigger hands - but they're only "profitable" because you can get rid of them for cheap if they don't hit, and extract entire stacks if they do. You can hit a flush or straight draw and have enough equity to bluff with position - a bluff that only works because you're asking your opponent to risk a great deal of his stack and a large amount in contrast to the size of the pot on a single round of betting. In NLHE When you play a hand like 65s on the button, what you're hoping to do is be deceptive. Limit Holdem is a game of Direct odds, not implied odds. They tend to have a little more action and see way more showdowns. Sure! I love Limit Holdem and Limit Omaha.
